Riversport Rapids in Oklahoma City

Saturday, August 20 will be Oklahoma State University day at Riversport Rapids in Oklahoma City in celebration of the “christening” of the OSU Kayak Boathouse at 10:30 a.m.

The event recognizes the launch of the Swiftwater Rescue Training Program, a partnership between OSU Fire Service, Oklahoma City Fire Department and Riversport Rapids. A rescue demonstration will take place at 11:15 a.m.

OSU employees (and family) and students will receive half-price admission Saturday to experience the world-class facility. Rafting on the Riversport Rapids will be available for OSU guests starting at 1 p.m. Other facilities will be available the entire day, with the exception of the Sky Zip. OSU employees and students must show their OSU ID to receive half-price admission. For details on pricing and facilities go to http://www.riversportokc.org/.

In addition, a limited number of seats are available for OSU students on two busses going to the event Saturday morning. To sign-up for a bus and free admission to Riversport Rapids, students should go to the Outdoor Adventure office at the Colvin Center.

OSU Fire Service is a national leader in emergency training and planning. Fire departments from around the U.S. and the globe will be invited to train in this state-of-the-art facility under the supervision and instruction of top swiftwater professional trainers.

Riversport Rapids whitewater and kayaking center is one of only three man-made whitewater venues in the nation and is the official training facility for the U.S. Olympic team. It is the newest and most technically advanced, powered by six 12,000 pound pumps recirculating 8 million gallons of treated water through two channels to create class II-IV rapids.
