KOCO 5 announces winner of 2017 Eskridge Auto Free Ride Scholarship
Congratulations to Edmond Memorial High School senior Kelsey Courts. On Wednesday, she was named the winner of the 2017 Eskridge Auto Free Ridge Scholarship. Courts has won a scholarship up to $25,000 from Prosperity Bank and a Chevy Sonic. “(It’s) pretty exciting. I can’t stop shaking,” she said. “I can’t … I’m really thankful.” Courts is a straight-A student and Edmond Memorial High School’s valedictorian. She recently moved out on her own and is supporting herself. The teen said life hasn’t been easy, with family members in and out of jail for drugs. But that hasn’t deterred her from reaching her goals. Courts said the scholarship and car will serve her well as she heads to college. She plans to study human development and family science at Oklahoma State University.
